PIPPA GAWLEY
ZERO CARBON CAPITAL 

Pippa is the co-founder of Zero Carbon Capital, home of an EIS fund investing in early-stage companies on a mission to fix climate change. ZCC supports deep science, hard-tech solutions that have the potential to make half gigaton-level reductions of CO2e at scale; and vision-aligned, ambitious teams to go with them. Pippa started angel investing in decarbonisation technologies in California five years ago, where she was an active member of the impact investing ecosystem. She holds a Masters degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

JOE SIMON-BROWN
J A KEMP

Joe is a European and UK Patent Attorney. He started his career at the London office of J A Kemp before joining our Cambridge based team in 2018 to help grow our local client base in the area. Joe advises on matters from general protection strategy, to freedom-to-operate, to infringement of rights. He particularly enjoys working with young and growing companies to develop their patent portfolios and relishes working closely with inventors to draft new patent applications. Joe is highly engaged with the entrepreneurial community in Cambridge and the wider region.

JIM TOTTY
EARTH CAPITAL

Jim is Managing Partner at Earth Capital, an investment company who back sustainable businesses and innovative management teams with active support and long term investment.

Jim has 25 years’ experience in sustainable and clean technology, including 16 years’ private equity. He invests in sustainable businesses in technology, services and manufacturing, renewable energy, energy efficiency and water. STIL manages family office capital, institutional funds, and high net-worth investments through private equity funds.

EMMA MEE
ALLIA

Emma has a near 20-year background in sustainability and a keen interest in supporting entrepreneurs to develop the solutions and technologies to address the world’s most prominent issues. At Cambridge University Institute for Sustainability Leadership she supported a cross-sector business leadership group address climate change and increase emission reduction regulations across the UK and Europe, and created and ran the first two years of the Young Sustainability Entrepreneurs Awards for Unilever. Emma has since turned to entrepreneurs for hope in the face of the climate crisis, and has created the ‘Future 20’, supporting the founders of 20 impact focused tech-for-good start ups at Allia.

MARK RIMINTON
INVESTMENT PLATFORM MANAGER, CLEAN GROWTH UK AT UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON

Mark Riminton is responsible for Clean Growth UK’s industrial relationships and for its investor readiness development track for SMEs. He is based at the University of Brighton, UK and has long experience of working with business owners and investors. Before joining the university in 2016 Mark practiced as a consultant and business coach. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

HERMIONE THOMSPON
J A KEMP

Hermione is a UK and European patent attorney at J A Kemp. She has experience drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in Europe and the UK. Hermione has a technical background in engineering and has handled a wide range of electrical, electronic and mechanical patent cases. Hermione often works on cases with subject matter relating to life sciences as well as engineering. In particular, she is familiar with the considerations of agricultural companies and has worked on various agri-tech cases. Hermione enjoys working on clean/green technologies, is a member of J A Kemp’s cleantech team, and has experience drafting, filing and prosecuting related applications.
